The 2025-26 Borussia Dortmund special edition black shirt is one of the most meaningful releases in the club’s recent history — marking the 100th anniversary of the Stadion Rote Erde, Borussia Dortmund’s legendary former home. The design is a black shirt with sandstone-coloured detailing that draws on key design elements of that historic venue.
The sandstone colour scheme is inspired by the distinctive walls that have framed the Rote Erde since it first opened in 1926, while the tonal pattern embossed onto the shirt evokes the stadium’s two main entrance gates — and especially the famous Marathon Gate. The collar and sleeve cuffs carry clean sandstone stripe detailing against the deep black base, and the iconic BVB 09 roundel crest sits proudly on the chest alongside the Vodafone sponsor in matching sandstone. It’s a kit that wears its history on its sleeve.
In Niko Kovač’s first full season in charge, BVB achieved second place in the Bundesliga for the first time since the 2022-23 season. Top scorer Serhou Guirassy netted 22 goals in all competitions — a campaign that made wearing black and yellow (and now black and sandstone) feel very special indeed.
